Vehicle weight reduction influences fuel savings over the lifetime of trucks and buses. WABCO continues to invest in innovative technologies and systems that result in lighter materials as well as optimized ratios for weight and performance. WABCO’s technology roadmap for reducing vehicle weight features industry-leading engineering innovations for heavy duty trucks such as NG22MAX, a new generation of air disc brakes which weigh 13 percent less than comparable products. In another technology breakthrough, WABCO’s single-cylinder high-output compressors (h-comp) weigh 20 percent less than twin-cylinder compressors. WABCO has further reduced weight by 20 percent on compressor crankcases by using aluminum alloy instead of grey iron. In addition, WABCO’s air dryer System Saver Plus delivers up to 30 percent weight reduction versus comparable products.
