Jeversen Test Track near Hanover (Germany)

Opened in 1995

The Oval

The heart of the Jeversen test track is an oval of 2000 meters (1.24 miles) with two steep curves for speeds up to 120 kph (74 mph) on different road surfaces.
  • The steep curves allow for driving speeds up to 90 kph (56 mph) with no side force, and even higher speeds up to 120 kph (74 mph) with side forces and fully loaded vehicles.
  • For the development and testing of braking systems, tracks with different road surfaces are integrated in one of the two 550 meter (1640 feet) long straight sections following the curves.
  • Blue basalt, asphalt, concrete and stainless steel surfaces are arranged in such a way that one track with a low coefficient of friction is always located between two tracks with high coefficients of friction, in many different combinations.
  • The well-irrigated stainless steel surface shows similar slip behavior to that on wet ice, suitable for testing ABS/ASR control systems.
  • On a special section, individual obstacles can be simulated, such as level crossings or manhole covers.
The Circle

The Jeversen circle has an inside radius of 100 meters (328 feet) and a road width of 30 meters (98 feet) – ideal for dynamic and stability testing on vehicles at changing loads that are subject to lateral forces. For low coefficients of friction, blue basalt tracks are incorporated into the asphalt circle.

The Hill

The Jeversen hill has gradients of 3.5%, 7% and 12% and different road surfaces such as asphalt, blue basalt and stainless steel, offering ideal conditions for testing drive slip control and gear-shifting systems. All sections are irrigated by a central and individually controllable sprinkler system.

Chassis Control

When testing and optimizing chassis control systems, specific uneven roads and obstacles are required. The test track includes different sine tracks, an inferior secondary road and individual obstacles such as sleepers and ramps. The "EU sleeper" enables the assessment of a vehicle's road-protecting quality.
