SIX SIGMA LEANSix Sigma is a quality management methodology that enhances problem solving for continuous improvement in business processes. It is used to drive cross-functional, strategic initiatives to achieve major improvements in quality. Lean is a process efficiency philosophy that eliminates anything not required to deliver a quality product or service, on time, to our customers. Problems and opportunities become visible through elimination of waste. At WABCO, we combine these two leading methodologies into Six Sigma Lean. It is our integrated strategy to accomplish excellence. We use Six Sigma and Lean approaches as a unified, dynamic and synergistic force, resulting in benefits as follows:
WABCO began to pilot Six Sigma Lean in 2005 at plants in Europe and China in cooperation with the renowned Shingijutsu Institute (Japan). Based on our learning, WABCO’s Lean Promotion Offices are presently active at other production sites in South America and Europe. Our WABCO Operating System (WOS) defines the path for us to transform into a world-class company. WOS includes Six Sigma Lean, Organizational Development, Development Process Improvement, Customer Partnership and Total Employee Involvement. We are passionate about sustaining high performance on this path as we continue to contribute significant benefits to our customers. With Six Sigma Lean, our own suppliers improve quality and enhance their value too. As we progress on this path, WABCO’s best practices are increasingly recognized as industry benchmarks. |
