Supplier Development Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Basic Function

· Monitor supplier APQP activities and ability to direct suppliers with APQP tasks as determined by specific WABCO and customer requirements.

· Develop supply base to meet continuing improvement quality PPM targets

· Follow-up for PPM and Incident Rate targets

· Review supplier-caused defects and make final disposition

· Ensure timely response to Return Material Authorization and corrective actions

· Execute audits at supplier facilities

· Execute Six Sigma projects using appropriate tools and methodologies

· Work with managers to identify and scope new process improvement opportunities

Travel Requirements

· 15%

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and production or industrial engineering experience

· Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts and applications, FMEA and fail safe systems

· Understanding of AIAG and customer-specific APQP and PPAP requirements (both Truck and Automotive markets).

· Project management process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment

· Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and Minitab

· Excellent analytical, communications, and interpersonal skills

· Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred but not required

· Working knowledge of process improvement methodologies
