Balance your trailer when giving a ride to a forklift
On central axles trailers, it is common to attach a forklift at the back of the trailer to facilitate the (un)loading at customers without an own forklift. The weight of both the forklift and the cargo can create a significant imbalance on the trailer, and cause a too high downward pressure on the drawbar of the trailer.
Forklift Control will improve the balance of the central axle trailer, by automatically lifting or lowering the front axle depending on whether the forklift is attached and on the weight on the trailer.
When can you use it?
On a central axle trailer with at least two axles and a lift axle
When a forklift is sometimes attached to back of the trailer
When the trailer is partially (un)loaded during the day at different locations
How does it work?
INSTALLATION SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
WABCO Trailer EBS version E2 or later
Air suspension
Lift axle as the first trailer axle
Optional: Smartboard on the trailer (or new Trailer Remote Control in the truck cabin - available from December 2011
OPERATION:
A sensor at the rear of the trailer automatically detects whether the forklift is attached or not
When the forklift is connected Fork lift Control will partially lift the first axle, when the trailer is partially loaden
When the forklift is not connected Forklift Control will keep the first axle on the ground when the trailer is partially loaden to keep the balance.
When are the advantages?
the truck drives more stable and comfortable as the drawbar of the central axle trailer does not force it up or down
the driver can reduce the time spent on reposition a part of the remaining cargo on the trailer, after partial unloadings
increase the lifetime of the drawbar coupling by avoiding extreme pressures
reduces the risk of police penalties from excessive hookload, even when the total axle load is within the legal limits
How to order?
You can order Overload Warning
on your new trailer at your trailer builder, and
as retrofit on existing trailers at your WABCO service center.
