Vacuum Pump

Servo-assisted braking has become almost universal; most brake servos require vacuum to operation. For diesel-engined vehicles operating under the Compression Ignition (CI) cycle, WABCO offers a range of vacuum pumps that artificially create, or pump, the required vacuum for the brake servo, in order to produce the same level of manifold depression as in gasoline-engined vehicles. As vehicles with gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, configured to enhance emissions, do not provide the required level of inlet manifold depression, vacuum pumps are also required on these vehicles. WABCO vacuum pumps are reciprocating or rotary devices, consisting of a combination of aluminum, steel and plastic parts. They are usually mounted directly on the vehicle engine.
