WABCO Leverages Advanced Braking and Air Management Technologies to Meet OEM Needs for Safer, More Efficient and More Environmentally Friendly Commercial Vehicles
WABCO combines its core competence in braking with competence in air management systems to offer OE and AM customers advanced air disc brakes, actuators, air compressors and air processing units.
The company has leveraged its experience in air disc brakes for light and medium sized commercial vehicles to offer brakes for all categories of commercial vehicles. The new generation air disc brake, NG22 Plus, is currently the most weight optimized brake available for heavy trucks. It features a monoblock caliper design and can be supplied with a variety of brake carriers, such as a ring type carrier for the US and export markets. Before market launch, NG22 Plus was also tested in truck racing to gather data on the performance under extreme conditions.
Following the successful introduction of NG22 Plus, WABCO now offers new high performance air disc brakes NG22 MAX and PAN25 to meet truck manufacturers’ needs for increased brake force to use the full braking potential of the improved tire technology. NG22 MAX is a high output brake capable of handling 30,000+ Nm brake force.
The new PAN25 air disc brake was developed for mobile cranes, demonstrating the company’s ability to service customers in niche markets catering to severly demanding condition capabilities.
Parallel to the new brakes, WABCO will be launching the i-range, a range of 13 bar capable brake cylinders that offer reduced costs and increased reliability and performance.
Environmentally friendly air processing units and compressors
The commercial vehicle market demands innovative systems based on proven and environmentally friendly technologies to assure safety and realise reduced cost of ownership. WABCO Electronic air processing units (E-APU´s) provide fuel savings through smart compressor controls & system protector cartrigdes help protect the air system and the environment. The smart compact design offers easier installation and prolonged service periods, reducing the total costs of ownership.
WABCO has continuously enhanced its air compressor range reducing their environmental footprint and operating costs. The innovative compressor range includes the WABCO Two-Stage Compressor that incorporates fuel and energy saving technologies, as well as clean air technologies.
