WABCO Demonstrates its Commitment to the Russian Market at ComTrans 2007

Company Presents Latest Innovations in OE and Aftermarket Braking Technologies and Advanced Service Solutions, Pav. 2, Hall 8, c -2/4

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM / MOSCOW, RUSSIA – 23 APRIL 2007 – WABCO, one of the leading providers of electronic braking and stability control systems for the global commercial vehicle industry, will highlight its unmatched portfolio of advanced braking technology from April 23-27, 2007 at the ComTrans tradeshow in Moscow, Russia.

The stand will give visitors an overview of the company’s fully-integrated OE and aftermarket capabilities featuring a large range of products and services including the comprehensive training programme WABCO University. We are highly committed to bringing our latest technology innovations and 135-year industry expertise to our Russian customers and to serve this growing market as a key supplier of a wide range of high quality products and services.

Technology highlights on the stand will include:

Electronic Braking System for Trailers, E-Generation – Trailer EBS-E offers a high level of integration and paves the way for simpler trailer braking. A new robust connector helps the system withstand the harsh demands of a trailer’s daily life, while fewer components allow for simpler and faster installation. Fleet operators also benefit from improved reliability, enhanced trailer management functions and reduced maintenance costs. Trailer EBS E is available in two versions – standard and premium – each prepared for upgrade with an additional Extension Module with integrated overload protection valve and overflow valve. The system includes Roll Stability Support (RSS), an advanced Operating Data Recorder (ODR) and in the premium version Electronically Controlled Air Suspension (ECAS).

SmartBoard can be added to the Trailer EBS modulator to provide the fleet manager or driver with a real-time status overview of the braking system and its components. All information on the running conditions of a trailer recorded by the advanced ODR can be monitored per trip and over the vehicle lifetime. All data is stored with an exact time stamp. The icon-orientated display allows easy and simple handling. SmartBoard offers nine different languages to display mileage, axle load, lining wear indication, and tire conditions. A warning lamp informs the driver of messages like a lack of tire pressure or overload. Combined with ECAS, SmartBoard also serves as a control box for lifting and lowering the chassis and for the lift axle.

Air Disc Brake New Generation NG 22 Plus – The new generation WABCO air disc brakes are currently the lightest brakes available for heavy trucks. This protects the chassis and reduces the fuel consumption. Thus, fleet owners will benefit from improved payload potential and vehicle service life, as well as reduced operating costs. NG22 Plus retains the proven reliability of the patented, single-piston technology of WABCO’s successful PAN range. In addition, disc cracking resistance is optimized. The key differentiating feature of WABCO’s latest generation of Air Disc Brakes is the new brake caliper with pad offset. Thanks to a revolutionary technology the rim side brake carrier could be eliminated, which makes installation easier for manufacturers.

Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) – WABCO pioneered ABS for commercial vehicles 25 years ago and today is one of the global leaders of ABS technology which has become a global industry standard for improving road safety and vehicle operating costs worldwide. ABS ensures stability and steerability of a vehicle on braked wheels, even at full brake application.

Hydraulic ABS – WABCO's Hydraulic ABS (H-ABS) add-on next Generation (NG) provides light and medium weight commercial vehicles with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) system benefits: maintaining steering and course by preventing wheel lock during braking especially on difficult or slippery road surfaces.

Electronically Controlled Air Suspension System (ECAS) – The ECAS system is an electronically-controlled four corner air suspension system. The Air Supply Unit allows the speed-dependent lifting and lowering of the body. In addition,  vehicles can be raised or lowered to different levels during driving and also while stationary, simply by pushing a button. For vehicles equipped with partial or full air suspension, WABCO has developed a modular concept with a high degree of integration for additional components such as electronic control units, solenoid valves, sensors, wiring, relays etc. This permits complete air supply systems to be assembled individually and customized to client needs.

The WABCO stand will feature demonstrations of Trailer EBS-E, Hydraulic ABS and ECAS systems.
