Interactive displays will feature WABCO’s tire monitoring system IVTM, the electronically controlled air suspension for trucks, trailers, cars and buses (ECAS), and the latest braking system for trailers, Trailer EBS-E. The company will also showcase its electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS), its innovative transmission automation systems and its electronic shock absorber control (ESAC) solutions for passenger car applications.

"We are committed to bringing our latest technological innovations and 138-year industry expertise to our Chinese customers, and to serve this growing market as a key supplier of a wide range of high quality products and services", said Leon Liu, regional president, WABCO Asia Pacific. "The passion we show in responding to our Chinese customers’ needs was just recently acknowledged with best supplier awards by Yutong Group and the China National Heavy Truck Group (CNHTC)".

WABCO has been present in China for more than 20 years. Today, WABCO’s Chinese plants produce a range of advanced braking and control products and systems, air dryers, air processing units and valves for domestic and export markets, destined for both vehicle manufacturers and the aftermarket. More than 30 authorised WABCO service centres operate in China in addition to a network of authorised distributors in major cities.

Auto Shanghai featured systems include:

Anti-lock braking system: WABCO invented ABS technology for commercial vehicles some 25 years ago in partnership with Mercedes-Benz (now DaimlerChrysler). Having sold more than five million systems worldwide, the company continues to champion the application of this important technology improving road safety and vehicle operating costs worldwide. ABS is today mandatory on many types of passenger coaches, heavy commercial trucks and trailers in China and worldwide.

Electronic braking and stability control systems for trucks, buses and trailers: WABCO pioneered Electonic Braking systems for heavy commercial vehicles in 1996 and added stability control capabilites (ESC) as option for this system in 2001 – both improve road safety significantly. The company’s most recent innovation in this area is Trailer EBS-E, which offers trailer manufacturers a streamlined, optimized solution that will cut down on installation time. In addition, fleet operators benefit from more efficient operation, longer system lifetime and easier maintenance.

Air management: WABCO provides air processing units (APU) and a wide range of compressors for commercial vehicle air systems. The revolutionary two-stage air compressor is the newest member of the WABCO-familiy of air management devices. Launched in 2006, it is designed to enhance air system performance and service life for trucks, buses and agricultural vehicles. It creates significant vehicle operating cost savings for fleets by keeping air system components, such as valves and air dryer cartridges, in service longer. It also reduces the risk of unexpected vehicle downtimes and overall vehicle maintenance costs.

Suspension controls: While in Europe most commercial vehicles chassis are electronically controlled, in China most chassis are still mechanically controlled. WABCO’s expertise in electronically controlled air suspension in Europe can certainly help in accelerating the transition in China. Most commercial vehicle chassis are electronically controlled. WABCO’s Electronically Controlled Air Suspension system (ECAS) has been a major driver of this trend and is now widely used. WABCO has further developed ECAS to integrate an electronic shock absorber control system (ESAC). WABCO’s ECAS solutions are available for trucks, trailers, buses and cars. A unique solution for the passenger car industry is WABCO’s mechatronic air supply module, which combines compressor, air dryer, air spring valves, relay and the electronic control unit to create an easily installed and cost effective solution.

Foundation brakes: The new WABCO Air Disc Brake New Generation NG 22 Plus is one of the  lightest brakes available for heavy trucks. The new brake retains the established reliability of the patented, single-piston technology of WABCO’s successful PAN range. In addition, disc cracking resistance is optimized. Fleet owners benefit from improved payload potential and vehicle life, as well as reduced operating costs.

Transmission automation: The WABCO transmission automation system transforms a manual transmission into an automated transmission that shifts gears according to driver demand. Gear changes can be performed manually or automatically without any additional driver input. The systems consist of the transmission mounted components in a range of configurations as well as the shift lever unit in the cab. Fleet owners benefit from reduced wear and maintenance needs as well as from reduced average fuel consumption. Additionally, the transmission automation releases the driver from gear shifting effort, thus increasing the driving comfort and offering better control of the vehicle in difficult traffic situations.

Aftermarket product range: Via its global workshop and distribution network WABCO provides a growing range of efficient products and services for fleets and workshops customers. The latest news is one of the most comprehensive shock absorber portfolios in the global commercial vehicle aftermarket. Offering shock absorbers for over 400 chassis and cabin shock absorber applications, WABCO provides customers with a true one-stop-solution, under the brand they trust. The new shock absorbers feature long product lifetime and simple installation. In addition to reduced wear and maintenance costs, the shock absorbers offer improved driving safety and comfort.
