Motortec Innovation Jury Recognises WABCO Trailer EBS-E for its Contribution to Innovation in Commercial Vehicles

Company’s Expert Diagnostics Workshop Solution Receives Special Mention

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM / MADRID, SPAIN – 12 APRIL 2007 – WABCO,  one of the leading producers of electronic braking and stability control systems to the global commercial vehicle industry, was selected as a winner by the Motortec Innovation jury for its Electronic Braking System for Trailers (EBS-E) in the category ‘Contribution to Innovation in Commercial Vehicles’. The company also received a special mention for its Expert Diagnostics aftermarket workshop solution. The jury composed of representatives from technology institutes, press and industry consultants, selected winning products based on a number of criteria such as functionality, design and quality. The award ceremony will take place on May 9, at the Motortec tradeshow in Madrid, Spain (May 9-13).

“I am particularly proud of these awards as they recognise innovations in both our original equipment (OE) and aftermarket sectors,” said Jacques Esculier, president of WABCO. “Innovation is not just about technology. It is about creating solutions that respond to our customers’ needs by contributing to increased performance, longer vehicle life and lower operating costs. Innovation is an integral part of our customer partnerships and goes from design and development, through manufacturing and OE programme management to series production. Our fully-integrated OE and aftermarket capabilities mean WABCO can support a vehicle through its entire life cycle,” Esculier added.

Trailer EBS-E is WABCO’s latest innovation in electronic braking systems. In 1996, the company pioneered the development and launch of EBS for commercial vehicles. It offers trailer manufacturers a streamlined, optimized solution that will cut down on installation time. In addition, fleet operators benefit from more efficient operation and maintenance.

WABCO provides a growing range of efficient products and services for fleets and workshops customers. Expert Diagnostics is a generic, affordable diagnostics tool that covers system diagnostics for a wide range of vehicles.

Both products will be shown on the WABCO stand at Motortec tradeshow (Hall 10, Stand 10F600) as well as in the Innovation Gallery.

Electronic Braking System for Trailers, E-Generation – Trailer EBS E offers a high level of integration and paves the way for less complex trailer braking. New robust connectors help the system withstand the harsh demands of a trailer’s daily life, while fewer components allow for easier and faster installation. Fleet operators also benefit from improved reliability, enhanced trailer management functions and reduced maintenance costs. Trailer EBS E will be available in two versions – standard and premium – each prepared for upgrade with an additional Extension Module.

Expert Diagnostics – Expert Diagnostics is a comprehensive multi-purpose, multi-brand and multi-lingual diagnostic system for commercial vehicle workshops. Designed to create new business opportunities for all workshops, Expert Diagnostics is a generic, affordable, flexible, reliable, and easy-to-use modular solution applicable to multiple brands and systems. Depending on their specific needs, workshops can choose from three Expert Diagnostic model options – from a compact, handheld tester to a complete, premium, stand-alone diagnostics system. The system comes with “workshop-proofed” hardware, the latest software, and comprehensive after-sales services, including training, a multi-lingual WABCO hotline, and on-site assistance.
