WABCO and Truck Race Team Allgäuer Continue Partnership in 2008

Team Allgäuer relies on WABCO’s competitive braking technology

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – May 8, 2008 – WABCO, one of the leading providers of electronic braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems for the commercial vehicle industry, and Truck Race Team Allgäuer today announced the renewal of their successful partnership in the European Truck Racing Championship. WABCO has supported the team of European Truck Champion Egon Allgäuer since 2001 by supplying state-of-the-art braking technology and has significantly improved the competitiveness of Team Allgäuer’s race trucks.

“Reliable high performance braking technology is crucial for a team’s success on the racetrack”, says Egon Allgäuer. WABCO is well prepared for this challenge and equips the racing trucks of Team Allgäuer with the patented new generation of single piston Air Disc Brakes NG, with the best weight/ performance ratio for heavy trucks.

”WABCO’s Air Disk Brake New Generation 22 plus is tested in truck racing to evaluate data on the brake’s performance under extreme conditions. It exemplifies how product development and, as a result, fleet owners and drivers benefit from our racing engagement”, adds Harald Kaess, WABCO Vice President OE sales & Customer Management. “Our partnership with Truck Race Team Allgäuer underlines our passion for innovative products, which contributes to increased safety and reduced costs for fleet owners.”

For the 2008 truck racing season, Allgäuer welcomes Russian driver Mikhail Konovalov as its new team member. “WABCO supports this decision as Mikhail Konovalov is a talented truck pilot and will contribute to the success of Truck Race Team Allgäuer. For WABCO, Konovalov’s commitment offers an opportunity to increase the company’s visibility and brand awareness in the important Russian market,” says Harald Kaess.
