BRUSSELS, Belgium – November 6, 2008 – WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC), a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that the company has been honored with a supplier award for “Best Aftermarket Service” by the Beijing Public Transport Corporation (BPTC) for WABCO’s performance before and during the recent Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the Beijing Paralympics Games, the sport movement for disabled persons.
Operator of the world’s largest municipal bus service, BPTC had chosen WABCO earlier in 2008 to provide a range of braking products, air suspension systems and aftermarket services before and during Olympic activities in Beijing, including support for improved service and maintenance capabilities through technical training and advanced diagnostic systems.
Throughout the Olympic period, WABCO provided round-the-clock services for BPTC’s bus fleet, including successful response to more than 210 emergency calls. In addition, to prepare for the Beijing Paralympics Games, many BPTC buses were effectively reconfigured with WABCO’s electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS) system, resulting in barrier-free buses for transportation of disabled athletes.
| “Expecting extraordinary public demand on our fleet of more than 20,000 buses during the Olympic period in Beijing, we had proactively set very high standards for safety, reliability, efficiency and comfort,” said Xu Guoming, Deputy General Manager of BPTC. “WABCO has contributed significantly to our Olympic success not only by supplying spare parts and service but also through their leadership, expert teamwork, technical knowhow and outstanding care. We honor WABCO’s Olympic performance and we look forward to their continued support to meet our long-term needs.” |
