| WABCO Launches Expert Diagnostics: a Comprehensive Diagnostic Solution for Commercial Vehicle Workshops |
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – 4 September 2006 – WABCO today launched Expert Diagnostics, a comprehensive multi-purpose, multi-brand and multilingual commercial vehicle diagnostic system now available to the Aftermarket. This latest WABCO innovation will be featured on the WABCO stand (Hall 26, B14) at the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2006 show in Hanover, Germany (September 19-28). “WABCO’s advanced diagnostic solution is an innovative system that creates significant new business opportunities for workshops,” said Jean-François Barth, vice president, Aftermarket. “Workshops equipped with Expert Diagnostics will be able to diagnose more types of electronic systems on more brands of commercial vehicles. This innovative multi-purpose, multi-brand modular solution helps workshops offer their increasingly demanding customers an outstanding service experience for a large number of vehicle brands,” he said. “At WABCO, we work closely with OE customers to develop technically advanced control systems that improve operating efficiency and enhance driver comfort and increase vehicle safety,” Barth said. “Today’s new technology requires an increasingly broad range of field diagnostic services. Workshops large and small are challenged to find a flexible, reliable, user-friendly solution applicable to multiple brands and systems. Expert Diagnostics is an innovative solution: a generic, affordable, easy-to-use modular system that creates a competitive edge in terms of the range of vehicles and systems a workshop can service. It’s an exciting new opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to providing Aftermarket customers with technical expertise and service support throughout the entire life of commercial vehicles.” Three Model Options: From Portable Handheld to Premium Stand-Alone Solution Depending on their specific needs, workshops can choose from three Expert Diagnostic model options – from a compact, handheld tester to a complete, premium, stand-alone diagnostics system.
“Workshop-Proofed” Hardware, Latest Software, Multilingual WABCO Hotline Expert Diagnostics hardware and software packages are designed to withstand demanding workshop operating conditions, and are supported by comprehensive after-sales services, including training, a multilingual WABCO hotline and comprehensive on-site assistance. Annual diagnostic system subscriptions can be customized to include both WABCO and major OE brand systems, including brake, engine, gearbox and suspension controls. Upgrades are easy to download without changing hardware. Because the Advanced and Premium Packages include sturdy laptops equipped with the latest Microsoft Windows XP operating system, they are well-equipped to adapt to future upgrades and can also be used for other workshop and office applications. A wireless LAN card is available to connect the laptop and Smart Module. This state-of the-art WiFi solution enables workshop personnel to move around the workshop more freely, diagnosing different trucks without the need for cable connections to the diagnostic stand. A range of optional accessories is available for all three Expert Diagnostic packages, providing workshops with increased day-to-day flexibility. WABCO Expert Diagnostics has been extensively tested at WABCO Service Centers. As it initially supports primarily Western European vehicle brands and systems, Expert Diagnostics is being launched first to workshops in Western and Central Eastern Europe, the Middle East & Africa. Other regional brands and availability will follow.
