| WABCO Presents its Comprehensive OE and Aftermarket Product Portfolio at the CARAT Tradeshow 2007, Kassel |
Company Highlights Advanced Braking, Tire Monitoring and Air Processing Technology as well as Latest Diagnostics Solutions, Stand 312, Hall 3 BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – 27 SEPTEMBER 2007 – WABCO, one of the leading providers of electronic braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems to the global commercial vehicle industry, will highlight next generation braking technology and latest diagnostic system innovations at the CARAT tradeshow 2007 (CARAT Leistungsmesse) in Kassel, Germany, from 6-7 October, 2007 (Stand 312, Hall 3). The stand will give visitors an overview of the company’s fully-integrated OE and aftermarket capabilities and provide demonstrations of Trailer EBS-E, IVTM and Expert Diagnostics systems. In addition, WABCO will showcase WABCO University, its comprehensive training programme that builds on the company’s substantial record as a provider of professional training for the commercial vehicle industry. Technology highlights will include: Integrated Vehicle Tire Monitoring (IVTM) – IVTM is a wireless tire pressure monitoring system that constantly monitors tire pressure and detects exceeded thresholds for under or over-inflation, as well as slow leaks. The system reduces both the need for frequent manual inspections and the risk of tire-related breakdowns. On trailer, truck and bus applications, IVTM increases security and often pays for itself after preventing just one tire-related breakdown. The system consists of external wheel mounted modules that are connected to the existing valve stem with pneumatic hoses. The modules regularly measure and transmit tire inflation pressure data wirelessly to an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which in turn transmits them to an in-cabin dashboard display monitor. Each ECU can monitor up to 12 wheel modules. Trailers are individually equipped with their own ECU that wirelessly transmits tire inflation data to any IVTM-equipped tractor they are coupled to. Electronic Air Processing Unit – E-APU is an electronically controlled, multi-functional air processing unit consisting of an air dryer, a 5-circuit protection valve with circuit air suspension and two solenoid valves as well as an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to control the solenoid valves. The modular and compact design of E-APU allows for easy installation and replacement of selected components. Fleet operators benefit from reduced fuel consumption as the system adapts the air pressure to driving conditions and uses vehicle overrun phases. Air System Protector – Easy-to-retrofit air dryer cartridge with an innovative coalescing filter to increase vehicle service life and reduce service costs by collecting and removing fine oil droplets (aerosols) before they enter vehicle air and braking systems. Expert Diagnostics – Expert Diagnostics is a comprehensive multi-purpose, multi-brand and multi-lingual diagnostic system for commercial vehicle workshops. Designed to create new business opportunities for all workshops, Expert Diagnostics is a generic, affordable, flexible, reliable, and easy-to-use modular solution applicable to multiple brands and systems. Depending on their specific needs, workshops can choose from three Expert Diagnostic model options – from a compact, handheld tester to a complete, premium, stand-alone diagnostics system. The system comes with “workshop-proofed” hardware, the latest software, and comprehensive after-sales services, including training, a multi-lingual WABCO hotline, and on-site assistance.
