WABCO sponsors debut at the Truck Grand Prix on the Nürburgring / Prince of Bavaria's successful appearance for the Allgäuer team

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM – 21 July 2004 – At the recent 19th Truck Grand Prix in Germany, the former BMW test driver Prince Leopold of Bavaria debuted on the Nürburgring by finishing second in a new truck primarily sponsored by WABCO for the Allgäuer Truck Race Team.

The runner-up in last year's European Championship, Egon Allgäuer regards braking and safety technology as one of the critical factors for success on the racetrack.

"We push our trucks to the limits of their capabilities. And there we often tap into WABCO's experience in the field of commercial vehicle safety. In a race, part of a successful strategy is being able to call on dependable brakes precisely when they're needed. Last year, we took a big step forward by changing over to WABCO's air disc brakes: their higher efficiency and lower wear and tear give us a definite advantage over the competition", said Allgäuer.

"Our European truck racing sponsorship has been successful for a number of years in collaboration with Egon Allgäuer's team", said Harald Kaess, WABCO vice president of OE Sales. "For us the focus is on supporting the team with technical know-how and state-of-the-art braking technologies. In the racing environment, we can also showcase our systems' performance capabilities under tough conditions to a wide specialist public."

In recognition of the Nürburgring as the highlight of the truck racing season, WABCO welcomed customers and business associates to a WABCO hospitality tent at the Allgäuer Truck Race Team's center at the track in the Eifel, Germany.

WABCO also sponsors the Aquila truck racing team in England.
