WABCO now offers an early warning system in the form of a Continuous Wear Sensor (CWS) which continuously measures the wear of all pads. This means that brake servicing can be more easily anticipated and therefore more efficiently planned. Wasteful 'downtimes' are greatly reduced, and safety and security are greatly enhanced.
In combination with EBS the analogue wear sensor makes it possible to harmonize the wear of all axles. This sensor allows the permanent control of the actual material wear situation of all wheels in the truck or bus.
By controlling the pressure of the different axles and by measuring the brake pad thickness of all wheels, all pads are nearly worn at the same time, which results in a more accurate synchronization of the pad wear process and substantially reduces the number of visits at the workshop.
Reaching the defined pad rest thickness the sensor gives the signal for the warning lamp in the cockpit. The driver receives the signal that he has to arrange a service soon, where all pads must be exchanged.
An added bonus
The Continuous Wear Sensor (CWS) is simply exchangeable without further adjustments - (Plug and Play)
