The WABCO c-comp is an air compressor with an integrated clutch. It has a simple on-off control and only draws power from the engine in the pumping phase, switching off completely during the long off-load phase. This reduces the compressor’s overall fuel and energy demand. A pneumatic signal is used to engage and disengage the clutch.
Features
Builds on field-proven WABCO Worldwide Modular (WWM) design principles, making it highly customizable
Multi-disk clutch can be integrated in single and twin cylinder compressors, both naturally aspirated and with turbocharged inlet air
Clutch integrated into compressor crankcase for minimal additional build-in space requirement – approx. 15 mm
Benefits
Annual fuel savings of up to 1,000 liters
Zero power consumption during compressor off-load phase
Up to 8 kW more engine power available when the compressor is disengaged
Reduced maintenance costs due to lower carbonization
Enhanced drive comfort due to lower noise emission
Less oil carry-over contributes to environmental sustainability
Additional fuel savings in conjunction with WABCO’s FuelGuard (Electronic Air Processing Unit)
