Due to growing traffic and congested roads, the demands made on braking systems are steadily increasing. Therefore the use of an electronic braking system (EBS) is a logical step. EBS does not only offer high comfort braking, it also increases traffic safety through reduced stopping distance and improved brake stability. Brake wear is reduced due to endurance brake integration and the full diagnosis and surveillance functions offer an effective fleet logistic. WABCO did not only take existing regulations into consideration while setting up the EBS Standard Bus System. Top priority was given to provide more safety and comfort to users, by extending the functions of today`s series EBS with Electronic Vehicle Stability Control (ESC), to all bus customers using SAE J1939 communication.
