Wabco India traces its roots to Sundaram Clayton, a JV between the TVS Group and UK-based Clayton Dewandre in 1962. The company has the distinction of being the first in the country to win the Deming Prize and the Japan Quality Medal. WABCO took majority control in 2009 in the brakes division of Sundaram Clayton Limited thus effectively capitalizing significant growth opportunities in India by investing in technologies required to maintain its strong market position, and responding to the future needs of the Indian commercial vehicle market for advanced driver safety and efficiency vehicle control systems.   
 
Headquartered in Chennai, WABCO India is committed to the long-term success of its customers by leveraging WABCO's powerful global technology protfolio. WABCO India has 5 manufacturing plants located across country in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Mahindra World City (Tamil Nadu), Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) , Pant Nagar (Uttarakhand) and Lucknow ( Uttar Pradesh). 


WABCO India has  also established a  world class R&D facility in Chennai with over 500 engineers, developing new products and technologies to serve the global and domestic markets.  WABCO India is a key pillar of WABCO’s engineering, with most of the software developed and advanced coding for  the solutions done here. Additionally a Global Business Services unit for centralized processing of WABCO's global functions at Chennai employs over 200 persons.  WABCO India also has a world-class test track spread across 200 acres near Chennai specially designed for commercial vehicle trials and homologation support to customers. WABCO has also set up an application development center at Pune to provide seamless support to customers for applying WABCO's technologies and solutions on their vehicles.


WABCO India Ltd has over 4400 employees and reported Rs 2854 crores in sales in FY 2018 - 19.
